NEWS FEATURE POOL PRODUCTION

ERNO pool refers to a TV crew made of reporter, cameraman and producer who cover an event of particular significance for the region of SEE, providing the regional approach, background stories prior to events and other video materials upon ERNO members requests. The feeds are transmitted via satellite through the EBU news exchange and are available free of charge to all ERNO/EBU members who can edit it or use it as they see fit.
In the efforts to increase the capacity of the news exchange and meet the needs of participating public broadcasters and wider audiences, during the year 2006, ERNO pool has covered:

The Informal meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers in Salzburg (Gymnich), Austria, March 10-11, 2006
The Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States and of the acceding countries Bulgaria and Romania were joined in the discussions by their counterparts from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia,Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro and Turkey. The talks focused on trade, combating organized crime, travel facilitation and how to communicate the European perspective credibly, in particular to young people in the region. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of all 33 participating countries adopted a joint statement on EU/Western Balkans relations re-afirming their full support for the agenda set out at the Thessaloniki summit in 2003, and to the Stabilization and Association Process as the framework for the European course of the Western Balkan countries.

ERNO pool crew produced two feeds and a newsflash item with the statement of the Serbian Foreign Minister, Vuk Draskovic, as the first reaction sent on Slobodan Milosevic’s death on March 11 through EBU.


The Independence Referendum in Montenegro, May 21, 2006 when citizens voted in a referendum to separate from Serbia - 55.5% of votes were cast in favour of independence, just 0.5% above the threshhold required.
ERNO crew has produced 3 feature items dealing with the complexity of the political and social scene in Montenegro, it’s history, economy and long-term viability, as well as regional implications of Montenegro independence that were fed through ERNO regional exchange and 3 additional news items fed as EVN items on the request of EBU about first reactions to preliminary results and celebrations in the Montenegrin capital, Podgorica. As the event was taking place in the region of Southeast Europe we had a succesful cooperation with the RTCG EVN desk, in terms of support and additional coverage.

NATO Summit of the Heads of State and Governments, Riga, Latvia, on November 28-29, 2006.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia were invited by the Heads of State and Governments of 26 NATO member-countries to join Partnership for Peace and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. NATO members also welcomed the efforts of Albania, Croatia, and Macedonia to prepare for 'the responsibilities and obligations of membership' and commended 'their increasing contributions. The Summit declaration recognized a continued need for a robust military presence in Kosovo with tensions ongoing as UN-led talks on the future status of Kosovo take place therefore NATO will continue to lead a force of approximately 16.000 troops to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
