Global Program Exchange-GLOMEX The meeting of the Global Media Exchange's partners was held in Doha, Qatar, on December 12, 2011, within the United National Alliance of Civilizations Forum. Global Media Exchange - GLOMEX - is a worldwide initiative and movement which was started in 2009 by a number of representatives from public service broadcasters and broadcaster associations in Europe and Latin America. A working group composed of representative from NORDVISION (5 broadcasters in northern Europe), ERNO (11 broadcasters in south-eastern Europe), TAL (more than 200 associates in Latin America) has developed since then a editorial, legal and technological framework to allow for program exchange across the globe. In this session, the achievements made so far have been presented, including the GLOMEX operational work schedule for 2012+ when the group and interested new-comers (the meeting was also attended by representatives of Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) , Euro-Mediterranean audiovisual Cooperation- COPEAM, the World Indigenous Television Broadcasters Network (WITBN) and other regional media networks) will start to exchange television programme files in broadcasting quality through a cloud based digital catalogue and storage system, on a non-commercial basis.
